What is SmallTalk? SmallTalk is a service like a walkie-talkie or 2-way radio, but with far greater reach and lower cost. It lets you press a button on your cell phone and transmit your speech to up to 25 cell phones simultaneously.
It’s a quick, easy and affordable way to communicate instantly throughout Namibia.
With MTC SmallTalk you don’t have to wait for your call to be answered, just choose from your list of contacts or groups push the button and start talking.
What's more, you can still make ordinary voice calls, send text, picture or video messages and have access to advanced high speed mobile data services. |

How do I use SmallTalk? You will require a SmallTalk (PoC) enabled handset (currently selected models of Motorola) and a SmallTalk subscription from MTC to make use of these services. All contacts that you communicate with by means of SmallTalk will also require the same.
SmallTalk operates over MTC’s GPRS network, so anywhere GPRS is available you will be able to connect with any other SmallTalk customer.
SmallTalk allows you to communicate one-to-one or with a group - instantly and effectively. And because only one person can talk at a time you know your message is getting through. One push is all it takes.
Using SmallTalk is incredibly simple: enter your contact, push, then talk.
Peace of mind / Security SmallTalk uses the secure MTC GPRS network, so nobody can listen in to your communications.
What's more, all your MTC SmallTalk contacts and groups are stored on the network. Even if you change your simcard or SmallTalk (PoC) enabled cellphone, you won't lose your SmallTalk contacts.
Know who's available Your MTC SmallTalk cellphone allows you to see who is available for SmallTalk calls. Icons show you the 'presence status' of individuals in the group, so you won't disturb someone who is busy.
You can set your SmallTalk cellphone to offline to avoid being interrupted, or leave it automatically enabled so that SmallTalk is available whenever your cellphone is switched on. Note: 'Push' equals one uninterrupted push of up to 30 seconds. All charges exclude VAT. All voice calls and sms charged at Connect 100 Leisure rates. |
