Portugal Telecom, 34% shareholder in Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) Namibia, have this week announced that it has signed the necessary contracts to seal the purchase of a 22.38 percent minimum direct and indirect stake in Brazil's main fixed-line phone carrier Oi for US$4.98 billion (approximately N$35 billion).

Leading Mobile Operator, MTC Namibia has broadened its
customer service capacity by introducing an Outbound Call Centre as from mid-December 2010. The Outbound Call Centre is yet another effort by MTC to service its customers proactively, the company’s Chief Human Capital and Corporate Affairs Officer, Tim Ekandjo said.

With four rounds of matches having been concluded in the Northern and Southern Stream Football First Divisions over the past weekend, mobile telecommunications giant, MTC which sponsors these lower leagues through the Namibia Premier League (NPL), says it is relieved that the ball has finally started to roll after months of delay due to funding issues.

This is indeed false and misleading as MTC have fully complied with this decision as per implementation date. The fact that we don’t agree with the NCC’s ruling and how they arrived to the ruling, does not mean that we don’t respect it.

MTC today launched Netman Time; a new internet service for which customers pay on the basis of the time that the customer is active on the internet. Existing pre-paid Netman packages are billed by the amount of data downloaded when a customer is active on the internet.
