The world surprises us with new inventions every day all aimed at improving our daily lives and the way we live. A few days ago, 3rd April, marked the 40th anniversary since the introduction of mobile phones thanks to the brilliant engineers of Motorola under the leadership of Martin Cooper. One can hardly imagine our lives without cellphones today, and we all appreciate the benefits and convenience of these magnificent technologies and its continuing evolution from cellphones, to smartphones, now accessing the Internet to email accounts and the popular text messaging.

In a bid to increase customer service value, MTC Namibia has recently opened its first Customer Support Centre. The new Customer Support Centre is situated at the corner of Dr Augostino Neto and Rehobother Road in Auspannplatz at the Ausplannplatz Centre and will be, a quick service shop with a sole focus on data services supports, sales, repairs and on sales offers, an increased variety of handsets for purchase, accessories and data connectivity.

The bursaries apply to undergraduate level in the fields of electronic engineering, engineering in telecommunications, IT and Network and Systems Administration

MTC’s strategic partner, Portugal Telecom, announced its intention to merge with Oi, the largest Brazilian telecom operator, thus expanding MTC’s telecommunications horizons which can only benefit Namibian customers even better. The new PT/OI combined company will be covering a population of 260 million and serve 100 million subscribers. The main objectives are achieving significant economies of scale, maximizing operational efficiency and adding value to its stakeholders. MTC will benefit from an extended best practice sharing platform, economies of scale, leading edge technology and by being a partner of a top 20 largest telecom companies in the world.

Mobile Telecommunications Limited has once again committed its support to the Namibia Premier League with a financial donation of N$40 million dollars in a three year exclusive sponsorship starting as of October 10, 2013 until September 2016. The Sponsorship commitment is spread over three years with an annual value of N$13 million per season.

The new Mobile Home at the town and the 28th in the country will provide an assortment of services that include contract applications, account payments, tango SIM starter packs, recharge vouchers, cellphones as well as email, MMS, GPRS and 4G connections

MTC, the biggest network operator in Namibia, ushered a new era of internet access with the expansion of its 4G LTE service to its prepaid platforms. This new feature will allow prepaid subscribers to access internet, using high speeds and charged per time intervals rather than per MB volume usage as usual.
