-Just over a year ago, MTC announced a new sponsorship deal to the MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing Academy to the tune of N$ 2.5 million per annum over the next 3 years. While many questioned the move and raised skepticism, Tim Ekandjo, Chief Human Capital & Corporate Affairs Officer at MTC today admits that the decision and choice of sponsorship was not just timely, but also spot on.

Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) Namibia today launched its mobile payment solution services powered by leading Namibian payment solution enterprise MobiPay. MTC Money enables customers to buy airtime, pay their MTC Invoice as well as pre-payments for contract customers, electricity and to use their phones as a digital wallet to pay for goods and services, withdraw and deposit cash, transfer money and settle bills.

MTC’s total investment in the NPL effectively makes it the 3rd best paid league in Africa when taking all aspects into consideration. MTC Chief Human Capital and Corporate Affairs Tim Ekandjo said this is according to a comparative in house research done, by MTC , comparing the MTC Nambia Premier League Championship winning payout to other leagues in Africa.

MTC Namibia financial year 2013 results show continued performance improvement as it passes the 2, 2 million customer landmark supported by a strong mobile data growth
Mobile Telecommunications Limited, the Namibian network operator, on Friday 07 March 2014, announced a revenue growth of 13.3% increasing its revenue to N$ 1.8 billion compared to N$ 1.6 billion in 2012), with contributions from both revenue groups; post and pre-paid. The strong control of operating expenses resulted in a growth of 17,2% (2012:11%) in the EBITDA (Earnings before Interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization ) margin.

As part of MTC's ongoing efforts to contiunously improve its network reach in remotest parts of Namibia and aid Government in its mandate of bridging the rural - urban telecom gaps in broadband connectivy in line with Vision 2030
MTC, the leading network and telecom operator in the country recently constructed and commissioned six new towers, averaging a tower per month since January in rural settlements/villages of Namibia.
These towers were constructed in Karas (Mata Mata), Otjozondjupa (Omatako Valley), Omusati (Onawa), Oshikoto (Onkombula), Zambezi (Kapani) and Omaheke (Otjiyarwa).

Mobile Telecommunication Limited (MTC) is confident that their billing system is 100% accurate and that the complaints relating to excessive data usage is therefore not a system issue, or as a result of the upgrade on MTC’s systems, but that the high data usage is as a direct result of the latest versions operating systems on many latest smartphones that are now using more functionalities and consequently more data.
In the last two weeks MTC has received a lot of complaints from customers directly and through the media about the surprisingly high data usage. MTC immediately investigated the matter and can now confirm that all data charges were correctly billed in relation to the data usage generated by the customer’s smartphones.

Let me thank the Namibia Sports Commission for affording us the opportunity to speak at the biggest sports gathering and for allowing us to partner with them once again. I am very happy to see the Right Honourable Prime Minister here for the 2nd consecutive year, if this is not a sign that the 2015 sports budget will be tripled than I do not know, but we shall eagerly wait to see.
